Lock-In Board of Review


The annual DCCS-DGH Board of Review is held at St. Mary's Seminary, 9845 Memorial Drive, Houston, usually the Saturday after New Year's; check the calendar for exact dates. Pope Pius XII and Ad Altare Dei candidates are of course required to attend.

Registration is from 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM on Saturday morning in the seminary gymnasium (breakfast will be provided until 8:30 AM). Each unit should have two-deep leadership, plus medical forms for all Scouts and adults in attendance. Counselors should be prepared to sit on Pope Pius XII and/or Ad Altare Dei boards of review, as needed.

Scouts should bring:

  • field (aka "Class A") uniform,
  • completed application (including pastor's signature),
  • participant manual,
  • completed project(s),
  • completed program evaluation, and
  • $25 (to cover the cost of the emblem, neckerchief, patch, and photo they will receive on Scout Sunday).

Following registration there will be a Mass in the seminary chapel.

Saturday morning continues with the Pope Pius XII and Ad Altare Dei boards of review. Pope Pius XII candidates who have passed their boards of review will participate in the remaining Ad Altare Dei boards. The candidate exit interviews conclude by 1:00 PM on Saturday, followed by a brief exit meeting for all counselors.

Ad Altare Dei and Pope Pius XII candidates who cannot attend the scheduled DCCS-DGH Board of Review must contact the Board of Review Chairman ahead of time to schedule a substitute Board of Review. No substitute boards of review will be held after the date of the DCCS-DGH Board of Review prior to Scout Sunday in February!
